Mountains Within

Sale Price:$90.00 Original Price:$150.00
sale

Size (h w d): 6.9 x 4.9 in

Medium: Brush Pen and Marker on Paper

Framed Size (h w d): 12.25 x 9.25 in

Creation Date: September 27, 2014

This is part of a series of free associative doodles I made when I moved to Japan from Chicago. Without thinking about or planning the next brush stroke, I drew out my hitherto hidden hopes, longings, and dreams.

I made this particular doodle while riding the Shinkansen from Tokyo to Hamamatsu. The train would pass by Mt. Fuji, magnificent and still, and I would be stirred in ways that are difficult to describe in words.

Oh, and there’s another drawing on the other side. I no longer recall what it is, so it will be a surprise to both of us.
